Our 'Employee of the Year' award and Christmas hamper goes to our Financial Controller, Zoe Vodden who, in the last 6 months since joining us, has done a sterling job at keeping pointOne driving forward. We grabbed Zoe for a quick 5 minute chat to find out a bit more about her and her role at pointOne HQ.
What do you do at pointOne?
As well as holding the pointOne purse strings, it’s my job to provide management reports to help the business make strategic decisions and drive the operation forward.
What does a typical day look like for you at pointOne?
Aside from a good natter with colleagues in the kitchen to catch up over a cuppa, it's difficult to define a typical day at pointOne. Due to the fast paced nature of the business, I'm faced with a different set of challenges and projects every day so no two days are the same. The finance or accountancy profession is generally seen as a dull and mundane one, but nothing could be further from the truth here - I've not worked in an environment like it before.
What’s the favourite part of your job?
The people and the banter - it may sound like a cliché but it really is the friendly pointOne team that makes my day fly. I joined the company around 6 months ago and from the word go everyone has been so welcoming and quickly made me feel like one of the team who has been here for years.
Work-wise, I love that my role offers so much variety - I have no time to get bored!
How do you feel about winning ‘Employee of the Year’?
One word - gobsmacked! I certainly didn’t expect it, particularly as I’m a relatively new member of the team, but I felt hugely honoured. Without this sounding like an Oscar acceptance speech, I really couldn’t have done it without the support of Becky Short, our Accounts Assistant and the rest of the pointOne team. Thanks guys!
