About The Hardwick
Voted the Best Restaurant in Wales 2012 and 2013 at the National Restaurant Awards and more recently number 7 in the top 50 UK gastropubs for 2019, The Hardwick (overlooking the Brecon Beacons) is a fine-dining country-pub style restaurant with rooms, near Abergavenny in Wales. The rooms are chic and modern with designer textiles and the relaxed country-pub style restaurant directed by Chef Stephen Terry serves an extensive and innovative menu of locally sourced produce.
The Hardwick required a flexible user friendly EPoS solution to help manage the restaurant and support customer service. A key requirement was that the selected system needed to be easy to use so that it would minimise staff training. According to Stephen Terry pointOne fitted the ‘bill’ perfectly.
As part of the installation service, pointOne pre-loaded all the menu information at the restaurant including drinks list, providing a very smooth transition to the new EPoS system.

For serving diners, waiting staff at the Hardwick simply key orders into the pointOne terminal and these are then automatically sent through for the kitchen to process. This gives clear concise instructions, speeds up service delivery and reduces errors from handwritten orders. At the end of service all food items and drinks are then allocated to customers’ bills and printed out for payment. There is also a facility to split bills, which is a useful feature for large parties.
The Hardwick also uses pointOne EPoS to manage wet and dry stock items. This enables the restaurant to monitor stock held and set promotions to shift stock nearing its sell-by date, thereby minimising waste. Using pointOne The Hardwick can also change menus in real time, to allow for seasonal changes.
Furthermore, according to the Hardwick, the business information provided by pointOne has been transformational. They can now manage stock and even monitor staff in terms of order taking, which aids productivity and gives them more control over their restaurant business.
